Goyer to take 'Baltimore' to the screen

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- "Blade" writer David Goyer is set to direct another Hollywood movie about a fanged protagonist -- "Baltimore, or The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire."

Based on a just-published graphic novel by Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden, "Baltimore" is about a man who dedicates his life to vanquishing the Red King, the personification of evil, after he is bitten by a vampire bat, Variety.com reported Friday.

Mignola, the creator of "Hellboy," and Golden, who wrote the novels "The Myth Hunters" and "Wildwood Road," will write the script.

Goyer is well-suited for the job.

Slated to direct the "X-Men" prequel "Magneto," he also wrote "Batman Begins" and the three "Blade" movies and directed "Blade: Trinity."

In the "Blade" trilogy, which is based on a Marvel Comics character, Wesley Snipes plays a half-human, half-vampire vigilante.
