Fawcett in Germany for cancer help

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Farrah Fawcett is in Germany seeking alternative treatments to battle her cancer, "Access Hollywood" reported.

Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer last year and underwent surgery and chemotherapy to treat it. However, doctors reportedly discovered a malignant polyp this spring in the area where the cancer was first detected.

A source told the entertainment news program that, contrary to a report in the National Enquirer, Cher was not the one who suggested the 60-year-old Fawcett take the health-seeking trip to Europe.

"Cher is a friend who has been encouraging and supportive of Farrah in general, but no, not specifically about Germany or alternative treatments," the source said -- adding that Fawcett is receiving a "combination of alternative treatments, both medicinal and herbal."

Fawcett, who is best-known for her role on the 1970s TV show, "Charlie’s Angels," is allowing a film crew to follow her through her battle in an effort to educate and inspire others, said Craig Nevius, a friend of the actress who previously served as executive producer on her reality show, "Chasing Farrah."
