LOS ANGELES, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Paramount and DreamWorks are planning to release "Transformers 2," a sequel to this summer’s sci-fi blockbuster, in June 2009.

Action master Michael Bay, who directed the first film, is expected to direct Part Two as well, Variety.com reported Thursday.

Starring Shia LaBeouf and based on the popular line of robot toys, the first movie in the franchise has earned nearly $700 million at the worldwide box office.
