BOSTON, Sept. 27 (UPI) -- A trumpet that belonged to jazz great Miles Davis is hitting the auction block at the Skinner Gallery in Boston.
In addition to Davis’ custom Martin Company trumpet, the "Auction of Fine Musical Instruments" will also feature seven archtop guitars that belonged to renowned jazz musician George Benson, the Boston Herald said Thursday.
Benson, who is also the owner of the trumpet, is looking to pare down his large collection of instruments.
The bidding for the Miles Davis trumpet will begin at $20,000.
One of Benson’s highest-valued guitars, a 1972 New Yorker Special custom-made for jazz luminary Grant Green, will be priced at $50,000, the Herald said.
The auction is to take place Oct. 14 at the gallery’s headquarters in the Park Plaza Hotel.
