'Recount' looks for thousands of extras

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Casting agents for “Recount,” based on the controversial 2000 U.S. presidential election, went to Jacksonville, Fla., in search of extras.

"There's some awesome talent in town," said Amanda Davidson, vice president of Martini Shot Casting. "We've seen a lot of great people from all different age groups."

About 2,000 people were expected to show up at the Ed Ball Building hoping for a shot to be a big-screen extra in the HBO production, said the Jacksonville Times-Union.

There are many scenes in the film that will require thousands of voting-age extras, said Davidson. She added that senior citizens and college-age extras are in high demand.

Representatives from Martini Shot have also sought out look-alikes for the major political figures involved in the election. Davidson said they've found actors for George Bush and Al Gore, but they're still searching for Laura Bush and George Bush Sr.

Jacksonville will be the feature location for the film shoot, but production will shift to Tallahassee for a week as well.
