NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- The USA Network said it has ordered 16 original episodes of "Psych" for the U.S. television drama's third season.
Co-starring Maggie Lawson, Timothy Omundson and Kirsten Nelson, the show is about Shawn, a young man, played by James Roday, with uncanny powers of observation who helps solve cases for skeptical police.
Corbin Bernsen plays Shawn's police officer dad, the man who raised Shawn to note even the smallest details of his surroundings, while Dule Hill plays Shawn's reluctant assistant and best friend.
"We are thrilled to bring 'Psych' back for a third season," said Jeff Wachtel, USA's executive vice president, original programming. "The series has been a critical and ratings sensation since it premiered last summer and continues to gain new viewers and grow its fan-base."
USA said "Psych" has been a ratings success since its debut in the summer of 2006 and was ranked last year's No. 1 new show in all of cable television.
