LOS ANGELES, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- A descendent of notorious outlaw Jesse James claims actor Brad Pitt is related to the Dalton Gang which robbed its way across the U.S. west a century ago.
Eric James told TV's "Inside Edition" that Pitt, who grew up in Missouri, is a distant cousin of the outlaws because a Dalton married an Ogle who married a Pitt.
A reporter for the entertainment news show broke the news to Brad Pitt at the premiere of his new movie, "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Robert Ford" class="tpstyle">Coward Robert Ford."
"I did not know that," said a stunned Pitt. "I'll have to look that up."
He might also want to check out the premiere of the new film, "Jesse James of Clay County," which the Missouri Division of Tourism is planning at the Kearney farmstead where James was born, raised, and buried.
James' great-granddaughter, Betty Barr, is expected to attend the premier, which is slated to take place Thursday, the night before Pitt’s movie opens.
The tourism board said in a statement it is presenting the event to "recognize the celebrity of two of the Show-Me state's most famous sons -- Brad Pitt and Jesse James."
