PLANO, Texas, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Grammy Award-winning, U.S. hip-hop artist Missy Elliott has signed on to star in an ad campaign for a new product line of Doritos.

Elliott, who is currently working on her new album, will be seen later this month in a TV commercial for Doritos Collisions, a snack that gives consumers two different flavors of Doritos chips in one bag, Frito-Lay has announced.

The commercial opens with Elliott and a sound engineer in a recording studio working on a new mix.

Stuck, the singer munches on the chips and, inspired by their unique flavor combination, unexpectedly decides to record in a country beat.

"The idea of Doritos Collisions mixing those great flavors is an original idea -- just how I like my music," Elliott said in a statement. "I'm all about new experiences and new sounds."

Elliott is also moderating an interactive experience at http://www.snackstrongproductions.com/, where site visitors can listen to Elliott's music and customize their own tracks using different music effects and their own vocals.
