LOS ANGELES, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- "30 Rock" was named best comedy series at the 59th annual Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles Sunday night.

Created by and starring "Saturday Night Live" alum Tina Fey, the NBC comedy is about what happens behind the scenes of a sketch comedy show.

Although their show beat out "Entourage," "The Office," "Two and a Half Men" and "Ugly Betty," for the best comedy award, Fey and co-star Alec Baldwin lost in the acting categories in which they were nominated.

Declaring hers the "best cast and crew in all of television," Fey thanked the "parents, children, spouses and gay partners of every person who works on our show for letting us go missing for nine months to make these shows."

She also thanked the show's "dozens and dozens of viewers."
