T.I. tops all BET award nominees with nine

NEW YORK, Sept. 15 (UPI) -- Rapper T.I. will have the best chance at winning a BET Hip-Hop Award this year in Atlanta thanks to topping all other nominees with nine total award nods.

The "Urban Legend" rapper, whose real name is Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., garnered nine nominations for the Oct. 13 event at Atlanta's Civic Center, Billboard reported Friday.

Among the categories Harris took home nominations for were Lyricist of the Year, CD of the Year and Best Live Performance.

Coming in behind the "Bring Em' Out" star were rappers Kayne West and Lil' Wayne, who each garnered seven nominations.

Other top nominees included rapper Common with five nods, "Kingdom Come" rapper Jay-Z with four, and three nominations apiece for rappers Ludacris and 50 Cent.

This year's ceremony also will include the presentation of an "I Am Hip-Hop" Icon Award to rapper KRS-One, Billboard reported.
