BURBANK, Calif., Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Rachel Bilson is set to guest-star as a potential love interest for the title character on the new comedy, "Chuck," NBC announced Thursday.

Best-known for her roles on the TV series, "The O.C.," and in the film, "The Last Kiss," Bilson has signed on for a multi-episode arc scheduled for broadcast in late October.

The actress will play the first romantic possibility for Chuck, played by Zachary Levi, since his college girlfriend broke his heart a few years back.

"Rachel's been traveling all over the world shooting a big Doug Liman action-movie, ‘Jumper,’ and she was going to be in Los Angeles for a little while. We were talking and thought it would be fun to work together again, even for a few weeks. Having worked with her for four years, I know how funny Rachel is and what a good match she'd make for the show, and for Zach Levi. For a first-year series, it's really hard to get big-name guest stars, so we're all really excited and grateful that she could do this," said Josh Schwartz, the series’ co-creator and executive producer.

Schwartz previously worked with Bilson on "The O.C."
