Ratner to direct, produce TV cop pilot

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- NBC is working with "Rush Hour" director Brett Ratner on a TV drama pilot about rookie New York City police officers, the Hollywood Reporter said Wednesday.

Based on Edward Conlon's memoir, "Blue Blood," the pilot is to start shooting in New York this fall with Ratner directing and producing from a script by "The Emperor's Club" writer Neil Tolkin.

"We love this world Neil Tolkin created inside of this fantastic script," NBC Entertainment Executive Vice President Teri Weinberg told the Hollywood Reporter. "We could not be more excited to have this visually realized by Brett Ratner, one of the most successful film directors on the planet."

"Blue Blood" isn't Ratner's first foray into series television; he is also an executive producer of "Prison Break" as well as the upcoming show "Women's Murder Club."
