Lennox announces North American tour

Scottish singer Annie Lennox is planning a North American tour this fall in support of her new album, "Songs of Mass Destruction."

NEW YORK, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- Scottish singer Annie Lennox is planning a North American tour this fall in support of her new album, "Songs of Mass Destruction."

Lennox is slated to kick off the "Annie Lennox Sings" tour, the third of her solo career, Oct. 8 in San Diego.

The former Eurythmics singer plans to play only small venues in 15 cities through Nov. 11.

Her new album drops Oct. 2.

She has sold more than 78 million records worldwide, scored numerous Top 10 hits and earned four Grammy Awards.

Lennox also co-wrote and performed "Into the West" from "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King," which won the Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Original Song in 2004.
