Stars line up for MLK Jr. 'Dream' concert

NEW YORK, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Dozens of U.S. luminaries are planning to participate in an upcoming New York concert honoring the memory of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Usher, Ludacris, Wyclef Jean and Talib Kweli have confirmed they will appear at the "Viacom Presents The Dream Concert" to be held Sept. 18 at Radio City Music Hall, the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation has announced.

Halle Barry and Morgan Freeman also have agreed to join the concert's host committee.

The concert's line-up will feature appearances by Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Carlos Santana, John Legend, Bebe and Cece Winans, Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds, Robin Thicke, Joss Stone and Garth Brooks.

The event will benefit the building of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Concert co-chairmen Tommy Hilfiger and Russell Simmons said in a statement that the top-tier performers "will help capture the essence of Dr. King's lasting legacy by uniting musicians from all backgrounds and pairing together unique musical combinations rarely found on the same stage."
