LAS VEGAS , Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Las Vegas police were looking for singer Kid Rock Sunday, after Rock reportedly assaulted rocker Tommy Lee at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Security officials at the Palms Hotel, where the awards took place, told TMZ.com police asked for information regarding Rock’s whereabouts. There was no immediate word on what caused the fight, but an eyewitness told TMZ Lee “got it pretty bad."

Palms security escorted Rock and Lee out of the awards after the incident.

Jamie Foxx and actress Jennifer Garner were supposed to announce the winner of the VMA for Best New Artist, but as they took the stage, Foxx pleaded with the audience to "stop all this white on white crime."

"Tommy Lee and Kid Rock fighting like black folks. It's hilarious. Who won? I was in the bathroom. Who won the fight?" Foxx asked the audience. "Pamela Anderson has got a hard choice to make."

Anderson, who was in the audience, was formerly married to both Lee and Rock.

Garner finally managed to read the nominees and winner of the award -- Gym Class Heroes.

Also nominated in the category were Lily Allen, Carrie Underwood, Amy Winehouse and Peter Bjorn and John.
