LOS ANGELES, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- The remake of the Western morality tale "3:10 to Yuma" took over the top spot for weekend U.S. box office receipts, stealing the spot from "Halloween."
The Russell Crowe-Christian Bale vehicle banked an estimated $14.1 million in ticket sales, Box Office Mojo reported Sunday.
Bumped to No. 2 was Rob Zombie's remake of the modern horror classic, "Halloween," which recorded $10 million in sales.
Teen angst comedy "Superbad" dropped from No. 2 to No. 3, taking in $8 million.
The comedy "Balls of Fury," with a $5.7 million take, and spy thriller "The Bourne Supremacy," with $5.5 million, were good enough for the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
