Phil Spector case heading to jury

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Closing arguments have been completed in the homicide trial of Phil Spector in Los Angeles, with the jury begin deliberating the music producer's case Monday.

The Los Angeles Times said the focus of Friday's closing arguments were the blood stains found on one of Spector's jackets, with prosecutors introducing a computer simulation as evidence the music producer killed actress Lana Clarkson in 2003.

Prosecutors allege the simulation shows the blood stains could have been caused by Spector shooting Clarkson from a short distance.

Defense attorneys maintained throughout the trial that the 40-year-old actress killed herself and called experts to explain the origins of the mysterious stains.

Clarkson died on Feb. 3, 2003, from a gunshot in the mouth at her home in Alhambra, Calif. Spector had met her hours before her death at an area nightclub and has been the main suspect in her death.

Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler said Friday jurors will be given final instructions Monday and will begin deliberating.
