NEW YORK, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- A New York judge has sentenced Rapper Foxy Brown to one year in prison for violating the terms of her parole.

Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson ruled that the rapper, whose real name is Inga Marchand, should serve one year in prison for repeatedly violating her parole during the past few months, The New York Post reported Saturday.

The "Broken Silence" rapper has been arrested three times during the past eight months. In a separate proceeding Friday, she was indicted in New York on charges stemming from one of those arrests.

The indictment could lead to another seven years in prison for the rapper on charges she hit one of her neighbors in the face with a BlackBerry last month.

Marchand's lawyer had been trying to spare her any jail time by claiming the music star was pregnant -- but the subject did not come up during Friday's sentencing, the Post said.
