NEW YORK, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Top fashion designers took a unique approach to their industry this week in New York, creating a series of dresses inspired by the comic strip "Peanuts."
As part of a Metlife-sponsored fashion show, famed fashion designers such as Isaac Mizrahi and Betsey Johnson created unique dresses based on the amusing comic created by the late illustrator Charles M. Schulz, the New York Post reported Saturday.
Mizrahi particularly appeared to enjoy the unique fashion project for Friday's Snoopy benefit, citing his love for the popular entertainment fare.
"I love 'Peanuts' because it represents a theme in my childhood to do with not fitting in, with being an outsider," Mizrahi said. "The 'Peanuts' characters, especially Charlie Brown, made the issue of being different easy to understand."
The Heatherette fashion house appeared to take the task to heart as well, creating a wedding dress primarily out of stuffed animals.
"We wanted our dress to loosely represent all of the 'Peanuts' characters," Heatherette designer Richie Rich told the Post. "Kind of like a 'Peanuts' community."
