Griffin yanked for using N-word

MIAMI, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Comedian Eddie Griffin’s act at a South Florida event was cut short because he repeatedly used the N-word, The Miami Herald reported Thursday.

The star of "Undercover Brother" and "Date Movie," as well as the TV show "Malcolm & Eddie," had been performing at Black Enterprise magazine's Golf and Tennis Challenge at Doral.

Andrew Wadium, a spokesman for the publication, told the Herald, "We believe that ending the performance was the appropriate action."

Griffin's publicist, Jeff Abraham, did not immediately return an e-mail and a call seeking comment.

In a statement on his civil rights group’s Web site, the Rev. Al Sharpton said the crowd applauded Earl Graves, the magazine's publisher, when he approached the stage after Griffin got the hook.

Sharpton had attended a meeting held by the magazine in Miami, but not the performance.
