NEW YORK, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- U.S. actress and writer Tina Fey has signed on for American Express' "Are you a Cardmember?" advertising campaign.

The "Saturday Night Live" alum and star and executive producer of the NBC sit-com, "30 Rock" will soon be seen in national TV, print and online ads, showcasing American Express fraud protection benefits.

"I'm so excited to be a part of the American Express 'Are you a Cardmember?' campaign," Fey said in a statement.

"It's pretty impressive when you look at all of the people who have been featured in American Express campaigns before me: Ellen DeGeneres, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese; quite frankly, I'm not sure why they asked me, but I have to say, I think this is more exciting than playing on the U.S. Open ... for me, 'cause I would totally lose."
