LOS ANGELES, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Sitcom actor Jim Belushi will go behind the camera for Hollywood's take on the story about a 42-year-old man who returns to college and plays football.

Besides directing, Belushi is slated to star in "The Catch," the real-life tale about Marty Reichman who returned to college to honor a promise to his father, Variety reported Thursday. Once on campus, he learns he's eligible to play football and makes the team as a tight end.

"The Catch" marked the first feature film assignment for Belushi, who has directed more than 30 episodes of "According to Jim," the ABC show he headlines and acts as executive producer, Variety said.

David Murray, who wrote the upcoming NFL-produced biography "Lombardi," is writing the script.

"The Catch" should begin production by March.
