LOS ANGELES, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- A Las Vegas icon, a Spice Girl and an Indy 500 champ are among the celebrity competitors waltzing, two-stepping and cha-cha-ing on "Dancing With The Stars."

In a twist, viewers will have a chance to compare male versus female stars as each gender hits the Los Angeles dance floor on separate nights during the first week of competition, ABC said on its Web site Wednesday.

The show returns for its fifth cycle Sept. 24 with female competitors Melanie Brown, a former Spice Girl; Sabrina Bryan, a former Cheetah Girl; Jennie Garth, former "Beverly Hills, 90210" resident; Josie Maran, an actress and model; Marie Osmond, member of the Osmond family; and Jane Seymour, actress and home furnishings designer.

The next night, the men taking the floor include Wayne Newton, Las Vegas singer; Helio Castroneves, two-time Indianapolis 500 champ; Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks basketball team owner; Cameron Mathison, television actor; Floyd Mayweather, six-time world boxing champion; and Albert Reed, fashion model.

The show is hosted by Tom Bergeron of "America's Funniest Home Videos" and Samantha Harris of E! Entertainment. Judges are ballroom judge Len Goodman and dancer-choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.
