Wilson's absence could affect film shoots

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- The production of two films in which Owen Wilson was cast was cloudy Tuesday as Wilson was being treated for undisclosed reasons in a Los Angeles hospital.

Wilson, taken by ambulance to St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica and now at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, was to begin shooting the Ben Stiller-directed comedy "Tropic Thunder." Shooting for the DreamWorks film is under way in Hawaii.

DreamWorks said in a statement, "Filming on 'Tropic Thunder' continues," but wouldn't say whether Wilson was expected on the set or whether his role would be recast, Variety reported Tuesday.

Wilson, listed in good condition, also is slated to star in the 20th Century Fox comedy "Marley & Me," tentatively scheduled to begin production in January.

A Fox spokesman called inquiries about the "Marley & Me" production schedule "totally inappropriate ... at this time when all of our thoughts and concerns are with his health and well being."

Wilson stars in two other movies now in post-production: "The Darjeeling Limited," scheduled for a Sept. 28 release, and "Drillbit Taylor," with a March 2008 premiere planned.

Wilson's publicist, Ina Treciokas, declined comment about the actor's pending projects.

Boycott Winehouse's records, in-laws say

LONDON, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- In-laws of British singer Amy Winehouse have asked people to stop buying the singer's records to help wean her off drugs.

The parents of Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, said both the "Rehab" singer and their son are drug addicts but are in denial, NME.com said.

The singer earlier in August canceled appearances in Britain and postponed the start of her North American tour. Her record label cited "severe exhaustion," despite published reports she accidentally overdosed and was seeking treatment.

"Georgette and I both believe that they are drug addicts, and they don't believe they are," Giles Fielder-Civil said during a BBC radio broadcast Tuesday. "I think they believe they are recreational users of drugs and they are in control but it seems to Georgette and I that this isn't the case."

His wife said she though they needed medical attention "before one of them, if not both of them, eventually will die."

Giles Fielder-Civil asked Winehouse's fans to send a message "that her addiction and her behavior aren't acceptable."

"Perhaps it is time to stop buying (Winehouse's) records," he said.

Paula Zahn writes of 'years-long' affair

NEW YORK, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- News reporter Paula Zahn, separated from her husband of 20 years, has been in a "years-long" relationship with a family friend, it was reported.

The affair between Zahn and ContiGroup Chief Executive Officer Paul Fribourg was going on even when Fribourg golfed with Zahn's real estate magnate husband, Richard Cohen, sources told the New York Post.

"Richard feels betrayed," one friend said, adding that he learned the truth from a manuscript Zahn wrote that documents her relationship with Fribourg.

"It's a lurid and shocking handwritten account of their relationship," said the friend.

The former CNN anchor's affair with Fribourg became public in April, when it was announced that Zahn and Cohen were separating after 20 years.

Friends told the Post Cohen thought the relationship was a more recent development, but Zahn's account indicates it was much more "long-term" than Cohen had suspected.

"This had been going on at least a couple of years," another friend said. "It clearly spells out the relationship."

Zahn, 51, and Cohen haven't filed divorce papers. Zahn sued Cohen Friday, demanding he account for her estimated $25 million in earnings over the past 20 years.

Geena Davis sues over non-profit group

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- "Thelma and Louise" star Geena Davis is suing two Minnesota residents she claimed presented her idea for a charitable foundation and as their own.

In her suit filed Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Davis said she came up came up with the idea for See Jane, an organization focused on exploring the depiction of gender in children's media and sought Minnesotans Joseph Kelly and Nancy Gruver for help, TMZ.com reported Tuesday. The two, founders of the non-profit Dads & Daughters, agreed to be fiscal sponsors for the project.

Kelly and Gruver were shocked to they were sued, they said in a statement to UPI.

"Geena has acknowledged DAD's ownership of the See Jane program and expressed her admiration and gratitude" for their oversight, they said.

In her suit, Davis said she raised nearly $750,000 for See Jane and claimed Kelly and Gruver once told her "they were the owners of the See Jane project and of whatever legal rights existed in the See Jane name and goodwill."
