
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 26 (UPI) -- "Superbad" held on to the top spot in U.S. theaters for the second week, it was reported Sunday.
The Sony movie about two high school losers who find their way brought in an estimated $18 million in weekend ticket receipts, Box Office Mojo said.
“The Bourne Ultimatum” returned to the No. 2 spot with $12.36 million in sales, edging ahead of “Rush Hour 3,” which was second last week. Jackie Chan’s action flick had $12.25 million in sales.
Three new films grabbed the 4-6 spots: “Mr. Bean’s Holiday” at $10.12 million, “WAR” at $10 million and “The Nanny Diaries” at $7.81 million.
Rounding out the Top 10 were “The Simpsons Movie,” which dropped three places with $4.4 million; “Stardust,” down two places with $3.95 million; and “Hairspray (2007),” which also fell two places with $3.45 million; and “The Invasion,” which tumbled five spots with $3.14 million.
Exiting the top tier of movies were “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” “Underdog,” and “I Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.”
