PASADENA, Calif., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Hilary Carol Cruz of Colorado was named this year's winner of the Miss Teen USA title during a live event in Pasadena, Calif.
A press release from the annual pageant said that the Colorado teen beauty beat out runner-up Alyssa Campanella of New Jersey for top honors at Friday's live event.
The second runner-up in the annual contest, hosted by Mario Lopez from the TV series "Extra," was Kaitlin Coble of North Carolina.
Judges at Friday's competition at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium included 2004 teen winner Shelley Hennig, Coty Beauty Vice President Jay Clarke and actress Melissa Joan Hart.
Allison Farrow of Maryland was named Miss Photogenic while Anne Elise Parks of Mississippi took home the Miss Congeniality prize.
The live ceremony was watched by more than 250 million people worldwide, according to initial estimates.
