Bill Murray nabbed in golf-cart caper

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Perhaps feeling nostalgic for his “Caddyshack” days, Bill Murray allegedly downed a few drinks, then drove a golf-cart through Stockholm, Sweden's city center.

Police stopped Murray Sunday because they suspected the "Lost in Translation" and "Ghostbusters" star was operating the cart while under the influence of alcohol, the online Swedish newspaper The Local reported Wednesday.

Murray was not formally arrested, however, and was permitted to leave the station after giving a blood sample which will be analyzed to determine his blood-alcohol level.

The 56-year-old comedian and actor was in town to play a few rounds with his pro-golfer pal, Jeff Sluman.

After meeting friends, Murray left Cafe Opera, jumped into a golf cart and headed for his hotel Sunday night, The Local said.

Police said Murray was "very pleasant," but refused a breath test when they pulled him over.

He was taken to the Norrmalm police station in the north of the city and was "adamant that he wanted to take a blood test," police spokesman Christer Holmlund told Dagens Nyheter.

Holmlund added that in his 30 years on the force, he had never seen anyone pilot a golf cart through the city center.
