NEW YORK, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Hollywood actress Jennifer Garner has signed on to star opposite Kevin Kline in a Broadway revival of “Cyrano de Bergerac,” Variety.com reported Tuesday.

The new production of the 19th Century romantic comedy, with “Nine” director David Leveaux at the helm, is scheduled to begin previews at New York's Richard Rodgers Theater on Oct. 12, ahead of a planned Nov. 1 opening. The limited engagement is expected to run through Dec. 23.

The former "Alias" actress will play Roxane to Kline’s Cyrano in Edmond Rostand’s tale of how a love-struck man allows his enormous nose to keep him from directly wooing the girl of his dreams.

Daniel Sunjata of Broadway’s "Take Me Out" and TV’s "Rescue Me" will play Christian, Cyrano's rival for Roxane's affections.

The show is not technically Garner's Broadway debut, since Mrs. Ben Affleck understudied two roles for the 1995 Broadway revival of "A Month in the Country."

Kline, who will soon be seen on the big screen in "Trade," has recently appeared on the New York stage in "King Lear" and "Mother Courage and Her Children."
