LOS ANGELES, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- "Superbad" may be about a couple of high school losers but the coming-of-age comedy breezed in at the top of the U.S. box office charts like a star jock.

In its first weekend in U.S. theaters, the Sony movie, starring Michael Cera and Johan Hill, pulled in an estimated $31.2 million in ticket receipts, Box Office Mojo reported Sunday.

That was enough to elbow veteran martial arts actor Jackie Chan's "Rush Hour 3" back to the No. 2 spot with $21.83 million in ticket sales, while "The Bourne Ultimatum" slipped to No. 3 with $18.99 million in receipts.

"The Simpsons Movie" showed its staying powering, notching $6.68 million in its third week to take No. 4, while a new movie, Warner Brothers' science fiction thriller "The Invasion," starring Nicole Kidman, started at No. 5 with $6 million in estimated ticket sales.

Rounding out the Top 10 were "Stardust," $5.24 million; "Hairspray," $4.27 million; "Underdog," $3.61; "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," $3.54 million; and "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry," $3.5 million.

Leaving the top tier were "No Reservations" and "Daddy Day Camp."
