CAPE TOWN, South Africa, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Britain's Prince Harry's girlfriend was reportedly cracking jokes after she was rushed to a Cape Town, South Africa, hospital for an emergency appendectomy.

Chelsy Davy, 21, collapsed just after breakfast at her home Thursday and was taken to Cape Town's Christian Barnard Hospital, the The Sun reported Friday.

Doctors said Davy would be hospitalized for observation for a few days.

Davy and Prince Harry, third in line for the British throne, have been publicly linked since 2004.

The British newspaper recently reported Davy was expected to begin studying at Leeds University next month.
