BRIGHTON, England, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- A British photographer found guilty of assaulting Heather Mills has been sentenced to 140 hours of community service.

Photographer Jay Kaycappa, 32, was found guilty of assaulting the estranged wife of former Beatle Paul McCartney July 5, 2006, when he tried to take her picture in a Brighton, England, subway, The Telegraph reported Thursday. Mills testified during the trial that he grabbed her shoulder to move her around to take the shot.

Kaycappa was also convicted of assaulting Mills' friend, Mark Payne, the following evening. Mills testified she and friends were cycling and she ducked into the subway to avoid photographers.

Judge Juliet Smith said Kaycappa's evidence during the three-day trial earlier this year was "confused and contradictory" while Mills was "credible."
