'Ai No Yokan' wins Locarno Film Festival

LOCARNO, Sweden, Aug. 12 (UPI) -- The top prize at Switzerland’s Locarno International Film Festival went to the Japanese film “Ai No Yokan” -- “The Rebirth.”

The film, a love story between the mother of a murderer and the father of the victim, was directed by Mashiro Kobayashi.

Best actor came down to a tie between Frenchman Michel Piccoli and Italian Michele Venitucci, and the best actress award went to Spain’s Marian Alvares, the BBC reported.

The public prize was awarded to British comedy "Death at a Funeral," starring real-life couple Matthew Macfadyen and Keeley Hawes.
