NEW YORK, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- U.S. singer-actress Lindsay Lohan's parents say their lengthy and often bitter divorce proceedings could soon be finalized.

After appearing in New York matrimonial court this week, both Michael and Dina Lohan said they are working on a final settlement that could bring their highly publicized divorce to an end, New York Newsday reported Friday.

"We're moving towards a resolution, which is a good thing," Dina Lohan said Friday.

"Dina and I have put our best foot forward," Michael Lohan said after his court appearance. "This is all about the kids now, not us."

At the center of the embittered divorce proceedings has been the couple's finances and potential visitation rights for the couple's younger children.

The Long Island newspaper said the couple's famous daughter also has had her share of legal troubles recently as the "Confessions of a Broken Heart" singer and "Prairie Home Companion" actress was recently arrested on charges of drunken driving and drug possession.
