Band hopes third singer is the charm

DALLAS, TX, USA, Texas, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Dallas hard rockers Drowning Pool hope the third time's the charm when it comes to lead singers.

The quartet's "Full Circle" features its third frontman, Ryan McCombs, in as many albums. Drowning Pool's first singer, Dave Williams, died from a heart disorder during the 2002 OZZFest tour. His replacement, Jason "Gong" Jones, lasted just one album.

But McCombs, bassist Steve Benton said, "really fits in well. We spent a lot of time on the road touring before we even stepped foot into the studio, and it was kind of like a brotherhood again, like we had when Davey was in the band. It was something we were very much missing on the second record."

"Full Circle's" first single, "Soldiers," is a tribute to U.S. military personnel, who turned the group's first hit, "Bodies," into a training and fighting anthem. The group has responded in kind, with numerous USO visits to bases both overseas and in the United States.
