Drew Carey hosts $10 million quiz show

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Comedian Drew Carey is returning to television to host the new CBS game show, "Power of 10," Zap2it.com reported Tuesday.

The former star of "The Drew Carey Show" and host of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" will moderate the new show, in which contestants could win $10 million for answering five questions based on public opinion polls.

The quiz series is slated to premiere Tuesday and move into its regular slot the next night.

"I would have been quite happy to never, ever be on another TV show," Carey said. "But this sounded so interesting to me, I said I'd do it. It was a big thing that Michael Davies (‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’) was doing it, and I think people who watch it will rethink what they believe America believes."

Carey said NBC's "Deal or No Deal" and "1 vs. 100" have helped make prime-time game shows hot again.

"CBS wanted a big-money game. It was one of the only networks that didn't have one. It's going to be the biggest-money game show in the history of television, and I really hope someone wins the $10 million."
