Watts, Schreiber welcome son

LOS ANGELES, July 27 (UPI) -- "Painted Veil" co-stars Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, together since 2005, welcomed their first child, a boy born in a Los Angeles hospital.

Alexander Pete Schreiber weighted 8 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 22 1/2 inches long when he was born Wednesday, E! News reported.

The Tony award-winning Schreiber, has starred in remakes of "The Manchurian Candidate" and "The Omen," as well as "Scream 2" and "Kate & Leopold." Schreiber recently was seen on the small screen filling in for William Petersen in a multi-episode storyline of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation."

Schreiber recently was nominated for a Tony -- Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play -- for his turn as shock jock Barry Champlain in a revival of "Talk Radio." He can be seen in theaters in the Commandments-inspired comedy "The Ten," opening Aug. 3.

Watts also has several film projects awaiting release, including the David Cronenburg crime caper "Eastern Promises," co-starring Viggo Mortensen and due Sept. 14, and the thriller "Funny Games" with Tim Roth, set to premiere in January 2008.
