SANTA MONICA, Calif., July 24 (UPI) -- Lindsay Lohan's dad took partial blame for his daughter's problems with alcohol, drugs and the law after her arrest Tuesday by California peace officers.

The 21-year-old was arrested and booked in Santa Monica, Calif., on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance and bringing contraband into a custody facility. Police said a search of her pockets turned up cocaine.

Michael Lohan, on parole after serving two years in a New York state prison for DUI, said he wants to put aside the custody fight he has with his ex-wife, Dina, as an effort to help his daughter, "Inside Edition" reported Tuesday.

"I just think Lindsay needs both of her parents there by her side now as do all my children," Lohan's estranged father said in an interview with the celebrity news show.

"We are doing everything in our power in support of Lindsay and I won't give up -- this is my daughter and we love her," Dina Lohan told People magazine.

Lindsay Lohan's attorney said the actress was released after posting bail and is receiving medical care. Lohan recently completed a 45-day rehab stint.
