Rappers nabbed separately on gun charges

NEW YORK, July 23 (UPI) -- Hip-hoppers Lil Wayne and Ja Rule were arrested in New York on criminal weapons charges in separate weekend incidents.

During a stop for alleged speeding, New York police said they discovered a .40-caliber pistol in a vehicle in which Ja Rule was a passenger, CNN reported Monday.

A short time later, Lil Wayne was arrested after officers allegedly caught him and another man smoking marijuana. They said the singer had a .40-caliber pistol in his possession.
