NEW YORK, July 23 (UPI) -- The Sundance Channel, in memory of U.S. Christian singer and televangelist Tammy Faye Messner, will air the documentary series, "One Punk Under God."
The six-part series airing in its entirety Thursday focuses on Jay Bakker, an alternative Christian minister and son of Jim Bakker and Messner, Sundance said in a news release Monday.
Messner, who battled drug addiction and scandals involving Bakker, her televangelist former husband, died Friday of cancer at age 65. She was known to millions of viewers as Tammy Faye Bakker when she and Bakker starred on the now-defunct Christian PTL Network.
The Sundance series followed Jay, his family and his ministry from late 2005 through 2006. The closeness between Jay and his mother is an ongoing theme throughout the series.
