Buttafuoco: Money caused TV temptation

NEW YORK, July 22 (UPI) -- Joey Buttafuoco says the siren call of money nearly lured him into doing a reality show with 'Long Island Lolita' Amy Fisher.

Buttafuoco, 51, made headlines in 1992 when Fisher, his then 16-year-old lover, shot his wife, Mary Jo Buttafuoco, in the head.

The auto mechanic shop owner served four months in prison for statutory rape, but in May he and Fisher announced they were reuniting after 15 years and was divorcing his second wife, Evanka Buttafuoco.

Lucrative reality show offers for the couple made him "start to spin out of control," he said in a television interview with "The Insider," the New York Post reported Sunday.

But instead of giving in to the temptation, Buttafuoco said he will continue with his radio show on addiction recovery sans Fisher.

It is unclear whether the couple's reunion was real or for television purposes, the newspaper said, and Buttafuoco has been seen in public recently with his wife Evanka.
