CBS News captures 19 news Emmy nods

NEW YORK, July 18 (UPI) -- CBS News, paced by 12 nods for "60 Minutes," led the big three U.S. network news organizations with 19 2006 Emmy nominations for news and documentary.

Among network news organizations, CBS was followed by ABC News with 15 and NBC News with 14 nominations.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced nominations for the 28th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards Tuesday in New York.

Leading all nominees overall was PBS, which received 22 nominations for nine different shows, led by "Nature" and "P.O.V'" with five and four nominations respectively, the academy said in a news release.

Other networks with multiple nominations include CNN and HBO with six each; Cinemax, Discovery Channel and History Channel with five; and National Geographic Channel with three.

The News and Documentary Emmy Awards will be presented Sept. 24 in New York.
