PRAGUE, Czech Republic, July 16 (UPI) -- The lack of financial incentives in the Czech Republic reportedly is prohibiting the producers of the 007 franchise from shooting "Bond 22" in Prague.
Eon, the London-based production company behind the blockbuster James Bond series, will not be using studios in Prague for the secret agent's next outing, Barrandov Studios head Vladimir Kuba told Variety.
Last year's Bond hit, "Casino Royale," was filmed mainly in Prague and marked a high-water mark for foreign production at Barrandov, the entertainment trade paper noted.
But instead of making another movie in Prague, the filmmakers have confirmed they will begin shooting "Bond 22" in December at England's Pinewood Studios.
Eon would not comment on their reasons or on what other locations might be on the shooting schedule.
Kuba said he was told that, while Eon felt Prague "was wonderful," the lack of Czech incentives killed Barrandov's chances of hosting another expensive Bond production.
"We received it from the Bond producers in black and white," Kuba said. "They reportedly regret it... but the budget decided it."
