Imus pal: Shock jock planning a comeback

NEW YORK, July 16 (UPI) -- Controversial U.S. radio personality Don Imus may return to the airwaves this fall, the New York Post reported Monday.

"I'm not supposed to say, but ... if he was to be coming back, I would look to September," said private detective Bo Dietl, who was a frequent guest on the canceled "Imus in the Morning" show.

Dietl made the remarks on the Albany, N.Y., radio show of Post State Editor Fred Dicker.

When Dicker asked if he meant Imus would reappear on satellite radio, Dietl replied, "broadcast."

Another source told the Post Imus has been checking out comedy clubs, looking for a black sidekick who might act as a buffer between the shock jock and audience members who might be offended by his views.

CBS canceled Imus's radio show this spring after Imus caused a media firestorm by making racist remarks about the Rutgers University women's basketball team.

Imus initially dismissed his words as "an idiot comment meant to be amusing," but apologized later when he realized how much trouble they had caused.
