New film examines celebrity and the media

NEW YORK, July 15 (UPI) -- British actress Sienna Miller says she enjoyed playing with the ideas of celebrity, public personas and the media in Steve Buscemi's new film, "Interview."

"Interview" is about what happens when a serious journalist (Buscemi) and a popular film and TV star (Miller) spend an unexpected evening together.

"I feel the victim of a lot of unwanted public attention," the "Factory Girl" and "Alfie" actress told UPI in New York recently.

"I think ('Interview') is an interesting social study more than anything -- the levels these two will go through to sort of destroy the other one. So, that is a small sort of dig at certain tabloid journalists, but I say that in hindsight," said Miller, whose relationships with the likes of Jude Law and Sean Combs have garnered more newsprint than her considerable talent has.

"At the time (we shot 'Interview,') I didn't make any parallels with my own life. I thought of it as a character I wanted to create and I'm very different from that character, thank God, but I know people who aren't and I hung out with them and watched them. My friends were like, 'Why are you hanging out with them?' And I said, 'Never you mind...'"
