Arrest made in e-mail threat to chefs

PADSTOW, England, July 10 (UPI) -- A member of an activist group has been arrested after allegedly sending threatening e-mails to celebrity chefs Jamie Oliver and Rick Stein.

Both have restaurants in Cornwall. The Cornish Liberation Army member said in an e-mail Oliver was targeted because he was "another incomer who has caused the inflation of house and other living costs at Cornish expense," Sky News reported Tuesday.

The CNLA accused Stein of being seen to "ride over local democracy."

Devon and Cornwall police said a 36-year-old man from Padstow was arrested in the incident. He was interviewed and freed on bail until an Aug. 14 hearing.

Stein runs his Seafood Restaurant and other businesses in the Cornish port of Padstow.

The Oliver-inspired Fifteen restaurant is further up the coast near Newquay and was founded to train disadvantaged youngsters to be chefs. Oliver last month dismissed threats because "actions speak louder than words," he said.

He said Fifteen used local produce, 80,000 people visited the restaurant and "millions of pounds has gone into the local community."
