SYDNEY, July 9 (UPI) -- Australian actress Toni Collette and her husband Dave Galafassi are expecting their first child in December.

Collette, star of the Oscar-winning hit, "Little Miss Sunshine," has been promoting films around the world and working in Australia with her band, the Finish, which played Saturday during the Live Earth concert on the Sydney stage.

In February Collette said she was looking forward to motherhood, The Sidney Morning Herald reported Monday.

"I'm 35 this year, which is almost 40, which is almost 50," she said, adding that portraying mothers in films -- she also played a mom in the supernatural thriller "The Sixth Sense" -- has strengthened her desire to have a child.
