NEW YORK, July 6 (UPI) -- Former 'N Sync singer Lance Bass has not realized his goal to go into space, but he is headed for New York's Broadway, to play in the musical, "Hairspray."
Bass will join the company as dance show emcee Corny Collins Aug. 14, the day before "Hairspray" celebrates its fifth anniversary on Broadway, The New York Daily News reported Friday.
He'll join Jerry Mathers, "The Beav" in the 1950s sitcom "Leave It to Beaver"; pop singers Darlene Love and Tevin Campbell; and former boy-band singer Ashley Parker Angel of O-Town.
Bass in 2002 tried to buy his way onto a Russian Soyuz space mission, but fell short.
Besides writing "Out of Sync," about his days with the popular boy band, Bass can be seen in the comedy, "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry," starring Adam Sandler and Kevin James as straight firemen who pretend to be a gay couple so they can collect domestic partner benefits.
