NEWARK, N.J., July 1 (UPI) -- Actress Penelope Cruz is reported to have suffered a panic attack on an airplane just before takeoff on a flight from Newark, N.J., to Barcelona, Spain.

Cruz was due to make a Woody Allen film in Spain, Britain's Daily Mail reported.

Cruz, sitting in first class, initially appeared to be OK, but became visibly nervous when the plane started moving, other passengers said. The actress had a brief talk with one of the flight attendants before the plane went back to the gate so she could disembark.

All luggage on the plane was taken off despite the rain as crew members searched for Cruz's bag, the Mail reported. The flight took off two hours late.

Cruz's publicist, Carrie Gordon, denied the actress had a panic attack, the Mail reported.
