NEW YORK, June 30 (UPI) -- Actress Audra McDonald has signed on to co-star opposite Kate Walsh in the new U.S. TV show "Private Practice."
The ABC show, a spin-off of "Grey's Anatomy," revolves around neonatal surgeon Addison Forbs Montgomery who recently moved to Los Angeles to join the private medical practice of her once-married, newly divorced medical school friends, Naomi and Sam Bennett, said The Hollywood Reporter Saturday.
McDonald is set to play Naomi Bennett, who was portrayed by Merrin Dungey in the two-hour "Grey's" episode that helped to launch "Practice." Actor Taye Diggs plays Sam Bennett.
McDonald most recently co-starred in the "Bedford Diaries" on the WB and she will be seen next in ABC's adaptation of the play "A Raisin in the Sun."
