NEW ORLEANS, June 23 (UPI) -- Guitarist Tom Morello and his political band Rage Against the Machine will headline the ninth Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans this fall.
The Times-Picayune said the dream-team lineup for the Oct. 26-28 outdoor concerts also includes the reborn Smashing Pumpkins, Wilco, Ben Harper, Fall Out Boy, the Black Crowes, Sinead O'Connor and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
There also will be a strong contingent of New Orleans musicians. The Big Easy's music scene was drastically rearranged when Hurricane Katrina scattered artists to all corners of the United States.
Among the hometown heroes who will be playing in City Park are: Big Sam's Funky Nation, Mr. Liff and Lyrics Born and Ghost. There also will be appearances by the venerable Dr. John and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
Voodoo producer Steve Rehage told The Times-Picayune he was "extremely proud of the lineup" and hopes thousands will show up in New Orleans this fall.
